Workflow Approval via Email White Paper for Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2

This Whitepaper highlights the functionality in Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R2 that enables workflow to be configured so that a user can take approval action directly from email messages.
The document describes the email approval workflow. This workflow includes features and email messages that can be configured and the links that can be included in the emails that contain links to documents that require action. For example, an employee enters a timesheet, and then submits it to his or her manager for approval. The manager receives an email message requesting approval. The email message contains a link to the timesheet that the user entered. This functionality provides the capability for approvers to approve or reject from the email message itself.

High level steps required to implement this functionality:
1. Setup of Windows Azure Service bus - Details are given in this whitepaper.

As on date when I am writing this post Hotfix link given on page 3 of the whitepaper is not correct and lands on microsoft homepage.

Developing Mobile Apps White Paper for Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012

Fill utility to update multiple records



You can update multiple records at the same time using the Fill utility. For example, if you decide to change the payment terms for a group of customers, instead of updating each customer account individually, you can use the Fill utility to update all these customers' cash discount terms at the same time. 
This feature only is available if the Fill utility configuration key is selected and the Fill utility security key is enabled.

 Enable Fill utility from License configuration form as shown below.


Click Apply and ok


Click Yes.


After synchronization is over, you may have to close DAX client and reopen for changes to reflect.

  1. Open the form where the field that you want to update is displayed. 
  2. Right-click the field that you want to update and select Record info from the menu. 
  3. In the Record informationform, click the Fill utility button.  
  4. Modify the query if required and select values to filter. Click OK. 
  5. Verify that the list of records to be updated is correct. 
  6. Click OK.
  7. Select the value to change the field to for the list of records. 
  8. Click OK.

Fill Utility log:
Use this form to view a record of the changes that were made using the fill utility.
