Quality Management in D365F0 - Basic overview

To get basic overview of quality management in D365FO please read this post. I have documented high level steps to get fast track understanding of setups required and finally creating a quality order and record results.

Overview:
  • Set Up Quality Management Components
  • Create Tests
  • Create Item Sampling
  • Create Test Groups
  • Create Quality Associations
  • Automatic Quality Order Generation
  • Create a Manual Quality Order
  • Work with Non Conformances
  • Create and Process a Non Conformance Order
  • Manage Quality Reports and Certificates
  • Set up quality management on Purchase items

I will cover only few topics from above list in this post.

  1. Setup Tests
    1. Quantitative e.g. Temperature
    2. Qualitative e.g. Appearance
      1. Test Variables e.g. Appearance
        1. Outcomes e.g. Faded (fail), match (pass)

  1. Item Sampling

Item sampling is the quantity of sample items checked during a test.  The quantity specified is either a fixed amount or a percentage.  Item samplings are used with test groups and quality associations.

  1. Test group
Test group is mentioned on Quality order (refer point 5).
  1. Acceptable Quality level (AQL): Acceptable percentage e.g. 100% (percentage of tests passed, explained later).
  1. Select Item sampling for this test group. e.g. 5Pcs defined in previous step.
  1. Test group consists of tests.
    1. Quantitative tests e.g. Temperature.
Define values for this test. Define standard, min, max fields (alternatively enter min, max tolerance percentages which will automatically update min, max fields).

  1. Quality association
A quality association must be defined for each variation in a business process that requires the automatic generation of a quality order. A quality order can be automatically generated for different business processes including purchase orders, quarantine orders, sales orders, and production orders. The quality associations form is used to create quality associations to automatically generate and track quality orders. The form also supports the multisite feature. If a site is specified, the trigger for the automatic quality order is limited to that site only. A quality group represents common testing requirements for items. After you define the test requirements on the test groups page, you can define the rules for automatically generating quality orders. To simplify the process, users don't need to define rules for individual items. Instead, they can define rules for groups of items by using the quality associations page.
    1. Reference type, conditions, process (refer details)
    2. Assign test group
    3. Specify sampling
    4. Specify Acceptable quality level

  1. Manual Quality order
    1. Reference type (refer details) e.g. inventory
    2. Test group e.g. Temp
    3. Enter quantity
    4. Enter item details
    5. Test results:
      1. Temperature: e.g. 101 - Pass.
      2. Appearance: e.g. match - Pass.
    6. Quality order level validation of all tests
    7. Accept error: yes
    8. Since all tests passed status of quality order is pass

Financial Dimension Templates

AX 2012 has a feature to define Financial dimension templates. Entering financial dimensions for a transaction can be tedious especially if number of financial dimensions are more than five and if it involves percentage distribution between different dimension values. To save time users can predefine dimension values with percentages. Finance users have more control over financials. Business users like AR Executive have to select the required template. This is useful for periodic transactions. Microsoft is aiming at improving productivity of users. Users should be trained to use these features in day to day tasks.
For more information on financial dimension templates refer technet

Corrections, Cancellations - Receipts

AX 2012 provides functionality to make corrections after product is received. Receipt can also be cancelled.
1. Corrections: Can make corrections in receipts. Example change received quantity. However, user cannot enter comments e.g. Reason for correction. Improvement scope for future versions.
2. Cancellation: Can cancel receipt.
Note:
1. GL, Inventory transactions are created automatically for correction and cancellation.
2. Versions are maintained. Can compare versions and view differences between versions.
